Tsukimi dates are recorded on the traditional Japanese calendar, and must be translated to modern calendar dates. They are referred to as Mugetsu or Ugetsu, meaning “no moon” and “rain moon,” respectively. When the moon is not visible at festival time, celebrations are still held. Today, some people repeat the customs for several days following the full moon rather than simply on the night of the full moon. Some observers also visit shrines, burn incense, or make food offerings to Shinto gods. It involves traditional foods, decorations, and the beauty of nature. This festival is a rather solemn observance. ![]() These celebrations ceased when the Meiji period began in 1868. Moon viewing parties would then happen throughout the month – some on the thirteenth, others on the fifteenth, regional observances on the seventeenth, and Buddhist religious observances on the twenty-third or twenty-sixth. In that year, the calendar was altered so that the full moon fell on the fifteenth. Until 1683, the full moon always fell on the thirteenth day of each month. Some would board boats in order to view the moon’s reflection.īy the 1600s, the custom had become popular with the civilian population as well, where it became associated with existing traditions in which some of the rice harvest was offered to the gods. It is thought that moon-viewing parties originated with the introduction of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival to the aristocratic elite, who would gather to listen to music and recite or compose poetry by moonlight. The Tsukimi tradition dates back to the Heian period, from 794 to 1185 A.D. It was thought that the viewer could express gratitude for this year’s harvest and hope for the year to come. Since ancient times, Japanese writings have identified the month of September as the best time for viewing the moon, as it is especially bright. ![]() Grigory Rodchenkov." It's directed by a guy that rode bicycles and only directoral work before this was a movie that bombed with a 4.4 rating on IMDB in 2012. This doc should be a shoe-in for the must-watch list of a lifetime. It is a tale of horror of human cruelty and foulness while a tale of perseverance induced by hopelessness and knowledge you can't see anymore. It is a tale of people lying and cheating with straight faces and not a blink of doubt and regret in their eyes. The story itself is very gripping tale that is narrated in visages of Fogel and Rodchenkov and parallels the analogy of an Orwellian society that has existed for so long that one cannot ever escape it without fatal consequences. Ignorance maybe Strength in some world but in your mind, only truth holds you slave irrespective of how you feel about it. This is movie might not win the Oscar for the very obvious reason that it does not answer the crucial query of how dangerous and game-changing the act of doping can be in Athletics and similar sports that Fogel has set about to find. Otherwise, increment the TTL by 1 and go back to step #1.See who sends back an ICMP TTL exceeded at TTL expiration.Send a packet out with a really low TTL.Keeping IP addresses secret is not worth breaking connectivity through excessive filtering (for instance, blocking the "fragmentation required" ICMP is deadly for any client behind an ADSL+PPPoE link).īoth traceroute and tcptraceroute work on the same basic principle: Granted, having precise and extensive knowledge of the network infrastructure can only help attackers but not in really significant amounts. Worrying about secrecy of IP addresses is like triggering a major incident response plan because an outsider learned the menu at the company's cafeteria. If revealing a few internal IP addresses is a major issue, then this means that your network is doomed. In practice, though, this is all baloney. Correspondingly, many sysadmins consider traceroute as a serious breach, to be fixed and blocked as soon as possible. ![]() However, a relatively widespread myth is that keeping your addresses secret somehow ensures security. IP addresses are not meant to be secret and are rather easy to obtain for attackers through various means (mass scanning comes to mind, but also searching garbage bags for printouts of network maps - the modern fashion of recycling makes dumpster diving a much easier and cleaner activity than what it used to be). Traceroute reveals IP addresses of routers involved in routing packets. they are simple "ACK" packets with no data by themselves, so the destination OS will simply ignore them).Įdit: I notice that I did not answer part of the question. The short-lived packets are adjusted so that they will not disrupt the TCP connection (i.e. All relevant firewalls will let these packets pass, since they (obviously) allow the observed TCP connection to proceed. intrace can do that because it has seen the packets, and so knows the IP addresses, ports and sequence numbers. When it sees a connection, and the user presses ENTER, intrace will send short-live packets which appear as being part of the observed connection. Intrace goes one step further in that it waits for an existing TCP connection (it does so by inspecting all packets, à la tcpdump). tcptraceroute will not complete any TCP handshake it just relies on the ideas that SYN packets are not shot on sight by firewalls. That kind of packet is not usually blocked by firewall, at least as long as the destination port is "allowed". the kind of packet that would occur as first step in the TCP "three-way handshake". tcptraceroute instead uses a TCP "SYN" packet, i.e. Plain traceroute uses either UDP packets, or ICMP "Echo" packets, both kinds being routinely blocked by (over)zealous sysadmins. The goal is to fool firewalls so that they allow the short-lived packet to flow (and then die). But firewalls also look at packet contents. For TTL-processing and the "Time Exceeded" ICMP, the type of packet does not matter this occurs at the IP level. If they are blocked by a firewall, they never get to die "of old age", and thus no Time Exceeded ICMP. ![]() ![]() These are the packets with the artificially low TTL. What is often blocked, however, is the kind of short-lived packets that traceroute sends. However, blocking such packets tend to break the Internet (because hosts adaptively change the TTL in the packets they send in order to cope with long network paths, and they need these ICMP for this process), so, on a general basis, the "Time Exceeded" ICMP packets are not blocked. None of the tools you link to can do anything if some firewall blocks the "Time Exceeded" ICMP packets. That ICMP message contains the IP address of the said router, thus revealing it. An IP packet has a field called "TTL" (as "Time To Live") which is decremented at each hop when it reaches 0, the packet dies, and the router on which this happens is supposed to send back a "Time Exceeded" ICMP message. All the tracerouting tools rely on the following principle: they send packets with a short life, and wait for ICMP packets reporting the death of these packets. ![]() This product includes software developed by Zbigniew ).ĪLL OTHER THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE INCLUDED IN THE SOFTWARE IS LICENSED TO LICENSEE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT TO WHICH THIS COPYRIGHT INFORMATION IS ATTACHED. ![]() ![]() The VM's digital effects are very good - as mentioned above the reverb is a fair replica of the traditional spring, although the level is excessive and most players will never turn this control beyond two. However it suffers under heavier overdrive when the bass just turns to mush and loses definition. The Bandmaster stack is loud and fat and sings when clean or mildly distorted sounds are put through it. Once again, there's plenty of volume on this channel, even with the single speaker combo. Just as this channel's tone typifies classic clean Fender, so the VM's lead channel is classic 60s Fender overdrive, with a smooth distortion effect and plenty of gain to handle anything from country to blues or rock ballad stuff with ease. There's plenty of headroom on this channel too, with the amp refusing to break up until the volume control is pushed past nine. The clean channel is typical Fender - fat bass, smooth mids and a rich, sugary treble that's perfect for practically any clean tone you might want. You can access the same functions as these from small switches on the front panel, with the exception of reverb. The rear panel is easy - a pair of sockets for the series effects loop, a pair of speaker outlets and a DIN socket for the amp's supplied four-button footswitch, a reassuringly chunky affair that swaps channels and toggles each effect on or off. It's an ideal set-up for a player who might use one or two pedals but doesn't want to get bogged down with editing endless parameters. ![]() Once tweaked, the amp remembers your settings until you alter them again, but there's no programmability as such. This means you can go from a wide, slow chorus with a single hard slapback delay to fast wobbly almost Leslie-type stuff with long delay and endless repeats. ![]() You press a small button on the panel to select delay, dial in your preferred settings and then press another small button to use the same knobs to adjust the chorus effect completely independently. The reverb is governed by a single level control and is a reasonably good facsimile of a Hammond spring, while the delay and chorus effects share knobs for rate/time, mix level and repeats/depth. The clean channel features volume, bass and treble controls, while the lead channel has the usual gain, volume and three-band EQ arrangement.Īfter this comes the effects section, which features reverb, delay and chorus - all digitally generated. The control panel is easy to understand, even without the aid of a manual. Overall, the general standard of the components, layout and wiring is better than average for this type of modern mass-produced product. The PCB holding the valve bases is adequately supported on solid metal standoffs, however, the chassis layout means the preamp valve bases are deeply recessed, making valve replacement a pain. The thick end is home to the rear panel stuff, valves and power supply, housed on two non-through-plated boards. The Bandmaster VM electronics are contained within a sturdy wedge-shaped open-ended tray chassis, with folded returns on each side to improve rigidity.Īt the thin end, all the front panel components apart from the pilot light are fitted onto a single through-plated and double-sided PCB, with the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) on a smaller daughter board. One thing that's sadly become a tradition on modern Fender amps, is the flimsy cereal box rear panel material - how much does two square feet of quarter inch plywood cost? They'll work fine as long as they stay there, however, if one should fall out this mundane part could become a major annoyance. The tough screw-in three-piece glides that used to be found on the bottom of a Fender amp have also been reduced to steel studs, which are simply hammered into place. The Bandmaster VM head has a simple cut-out underneath which slots over the loudspeaker cabinet's handle, but it doesn't do a very good job of keeping it in place. While we're on the subject, a pair of the large knurled bolts that traditionally fixed Fender heads to their cabinets would also be useful. This cabinet has just one strap handle - it isn't particularly heavy but it is unwieldy and being a closed back design there's no other way to carry it.įender should really consider adding a pair of grab handles to this box, after all it isn't supposed to be a re-issue. But it's unusual, as it costs more to build than the reverse concept, and the valves actually have to do something more than just glow red.Īs mentioned, the styling is closely based on Fender's classic 60s blackface amplifiers.īut Fender has added a small 'VM' badge to the front grille and done away with the metal corner protectors you'd find on a 60s blackface, although they're present on the 2 x 12 cabinet. |
